But true poets – they really do not make up even one percent of those who are considered poets today. We can say outright that ninety-nine percent of those who write poetry today are not really poetic artists. But by going into what the how is in the treatment of language, [one recognizes] how this how of the treatment of language gives a much greater possibility of expressing something soulful than the prosaic content of the word. For the prose content of the word actually expresses the non-artistic, while the how expresses the artistic. One must always, through a kind of divination, first redeem the artistic from that which can only be given to one indirectly through the medium of print when communicating the poem.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-07-22","location":null,"word_count":144,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-07-22/p020","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230722e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
