But the poetic artist brings speech, which on the one hand tends toward the abstract and on the other toward the useful, back into a kind of constantly dissolving and restoring balance in the imaginative and rhythmic-musical elements of language. He shapes language by gaining an imaginative view – at least approximately – of the inner essence of the nature of sound and also of the flow of speech in rhythm, meter, and melodious theme. For language is only artistic insofar as it is musical or – if one uses the word in a broader sense – plastic.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Eurythmy Performance","site_heading":null,"date":"1923-07-29","location":null,"word_count":149,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/277d/1923-07-29/p007","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"The Origin and Development of Eurythmy 1923–1925","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA277d/English/SOL2025/19230729e01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
