Just as everything can be brought out of the treatment of the surface, of the treatment of the form in sculpture. In contrast to color, if painting wants to work with color, the line, the drawing, is actually an untruth. Because, you see, the horizon is not really and truly present as a line. That is not true at all. It is not a horizon line. What is real is the blue sky, and below it perhaps something shaped by nature, and that borders on each other. It is the contact of two colored surfaces. Whoever draws the line is lying. Whoever paints two colored surfaces, which of course must then have a border, is telling the truth. And it is with things like this that one begins to get used to the truth. Because we, wanting to be naturalistic, have lied so much artistically, that is why we also have the plight that so many lies are currently being told in the other world contexts.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"IV. Weil wir, naturalistisch sein wollend, künstlerisch so viel gelogen haben, deshalb haben wir auch die Misere, dass gegenwärtig in den anderen Weltenzusammenhängen so furchtbar viel gelogen wird.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":167,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/288/1920-04-05/p012"}],"english":["GA 288/1920-04-05/p012"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":167,"en_words":175,"ratio":1.05,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.04,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6652,"original_word_count":6409,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"Architecture, Sculpture and Painting of the First Goetheanum","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA288/English/SOL2024/19200405p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
