He should immerse himself in his own inner being and seek there the point of connection between the sense world and the ideal world. If, instead of this, he looks into the outer world to find this point, then, because he cannot find it there, he must necessarily arrive eventually at the doubt in any reconciliation between the two powers. The period of Greek thought that follows Aristotle presents us with this stage of doubt. It announces itself with the Stoics and Epicureans and reaches its high-point with the Skeptics.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Individualism in Philosophy","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":118,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/30/essay/p045","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:length","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"not_established","translator":null,"identified_edition":"MP1989","book_title":null,"publisher":"Mercury Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Articles/GA030/English/MP1989/IndPhi_essay.html","evidence":null,"reason":"no_translator_named","note":"Neither the lecture's own page nor rsarchive's lecture list names a translator for it.
