I was asked what the direction of language is, what we should do so that all of the words that have lost their meaning no longer form a hindrance to the development of thinking, so that a new spiritual life can arise. An English mathematician who attempted to form a mathematical description of all the ways of thinking recently said, in a lecture he gave on education, that style is the intellectual ethical aspect. I think this could be a genuine literary ideal. In order to speak or write ethically each person would need a particular vocabulary for himself, just as each people does now. In language as it is now, the art of drama only develops the words, but seldom develops general human concepts. How can we transform language so that in the future the individual thought or feeling, as well as the generality of the individual concept, becomes audible or visible? Or should language simply disappear and be replaced by something else in the future?","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"X. Oder soll die Sprache überhaupt verschwinden und in der nächsten Zeit durch etwas anderes ersetzt werden?","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":168,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/301/1920-05-05/p019"}],"english":["GA 301/1920-05-05/p032"],"method":"length","confidence":"medium","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":168,"en_words":183,"ratio":1.09,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.91,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":5311,"original_word_count":5848,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Ruth Pusch and Gertrude Teutsch","identified_edition":"AP2001","book_title":"The Renewal of Education","publisher":"Anthroposophic Press","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA301/English/AP2001/19200505d01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
