We have often had occasion to mention the *various periods of human life*; the period of childhood lasting till the cutting of the permanent teeth; the period between second dentition and puberty, and then the period from puberty to the beginning of the twenties. These periods are linked with intimate happenings within the human organism. The first period, ending with the cutting of the permanent teeth, means, as I have had occasion to point out, a concentration of the whole organic activity on the formation and insertion of the solid scaffold into the body; this process reaches its culmination in the teeth which protrude from the solid scaffold.
