The socially structured human society stood there as a future perspective, based on real life. But in the quest not simply to speak out of illusions and demands, but in the quest to arrive at something that can truly benefit humanity, the question had to be asked: Why is it that what is historically necessary, what must certainly come to pass, can at the same time appear as something that disturbs humanity in terms of the noblest forces? Such a prospect cannot deter those in positions of responsibility from recognizing the necessity of a social structure for the social order. But it can drive him to investigate how to ensure that good and not evil may come of it, so that the free human nature, developing in all directions, may come into its own, and not a human being withered and dried up inwardly must live in the historically necessary. This leads to a more exact, life-oriented study of this social organism. And there it becomes evident that if one simply wants to transfer the old state order, the old state content, into the new social order, if one would develop the old unified state into the new social order, then what the opponents of socialism, if they are well-meaning opponents, would argue, would come about. The murky picture is immediately illuminated when one realizes that One must first remove the actual legal or state or political sphere and the sphere of human spiritual culture from the economic organism, in which we have become more and more involved, so that the state and spiritual organism have become servants of the economic organizations. If you leave these inside, you sail away, hypnotized by the idol “unity state”, and if you want to socialize, then the objections apply. If we separate the newer human culture, the legal or political or state life on the one hand, and the spiritual life on the other, from economic life, in which more and more of human culture has been concentrated, then the possibility remains in the freed economic cycle to socialize in a healthy way. Aus dem wirklichen Leben heraus stand da wie eine Zukunftsperspektive die sozial gegliederte menschliche Gesellschaft. Aber in dem Streben, nicht aus Illusionen und Forderungen heraus einfach zu sprechen, sondern in dem Streben, zu etwas zu kommen, was der Menschheit wirklich heilsam sein kann, mußte gefragt werden: Woran liegt es denn, daß das geschichtlich Notwendige, das, was gewiß kommen muß, zu gleicher Zeit wieetwas die Menschheit in bezug auf edelste Kräfte Störendes erscheinen kann? Beirren in der Einsicht von der Notwendigkeit einer sozialen Struktur der Gesellschaftsordnung kann den Verantwortlichen ein solcher Ausblick nicht. Aber dazu kann er ihn treiben, nachzuforschen, wie es gemacht werden muß, damit Heil und nicht Unheil komme, damit die freie, nach allen Seiten sich entfaltende Menschennatur zur Geltung komme, und nicht eine im Innerlichen verdorrte, im Innerlichen verkümmerte Menschenwesenheit in dem geschichtlich Notwendigen leben müsse. Das führt dazu, diesen sozialen Organismus genauer, lebensgemäß zu studieren. Und da zeigt es sich, daß, wenn man einfach die alte Staatsordnung, den alten Staatsinhalt überleiten möchte in die neue soziale Ordnung, wenn man den alten Einheitsstaat forttreiben würde zu der neuen sozialen Ordnung, dann das eintreten würde, was die Gegner des Sozialismus, wenn sie gutwillige Gegner sind, eben anführen. Sofort wird das trübe Bild mit Licht beschienen, wenn man gewahr wird: Man muß ja erst aus dem wirtschaftlichen Organismus, in den wir immer mehr und mehr hineingekommen sind, so daß Staats- und Geistesorganismus Diener der wirtschaftlichen Organisationen geworden sind, herausnehmen das eigentliche Rechts- oder Staats- oder politische Gebiet und das Gebiet der geistigen Kultur der Menschheit. Läßt man diese drinnen, segelt man fort, hypnotisiert von dem Götzen «Einheitsstaat», und will man sozialisieren, dann gelten die Einwände. Gliedert man heraus aus dem Wirtschaftsleben, in das sich immer mehr konzentriert hat die neuere Menschheitskultur, das Rechts- oder politische oder Staatsleben auf der einen Seite, das geistige Leben auf der anderen Seite, dann bleibt in dem befreiten Wirtschaftskreislauf die Möglichkeit, in gesunder Art zu sozialisieren.
