It gives no instruction at all on how to find the knowledge that one has put into the body oneself. It leads people to experiment, and they should only learn what they experience externally; whereas the right thing would be to guide people into the living body. Our students are guided to the dead body, which is already a corpse, and learn nothing about the living human being. That would admittedly be a more difficult study, because there the human being must practice self-knowledge, must look into himself, because there the human being is to become more perfect. But that is precisely what the modern person does not want: he does not want to become more perfect, he wants the school to train him a little, and then he wants to stop there, does not want to become more perfect. Man does not want this because, in the education he enjoys today, I would say he is already far too proud to somehow admit that he should perfect himself.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"VI. Das will der Mensch nicht, weil er in der Erziehung, die er heute einmal genießt, ich möchte sagen, schon viel zu hochmütig dazu ist, um irgendwie zuzugeben, daß er sich vervollkommnen soll.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":177,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/349/1923-03-21/p043"}],"english":["GA 349/1923-03-21/p043"],"method":"identity","confidence":"medium","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":177,"en_words":179,"ratio":1.01,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":0.99,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":6194,"original_word_count":6240,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Life of Man on Earth and the Essence of Christianity","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA349/English/SOL2024/19230321p02.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
