These essays, which some of you may have read, strive with a certain intention to tell the story as simply as possible, without embellishment, in the most straightforward way, with no particular emphasis. Now a critic has already been found who particularly criticizes this, who says, I do not bring poetry and truth like Goethe, but truth with all sobriety. Yes, that is precisely what I am striving for! And I do not strive at all to achieve what is demanded of such a critic. In the case of such a critic today, there is precisely that which, in contrast to a sober style, is a 'drunken' style. And, isn't it true, this drunken style is almost everywhere today. It is no longer important to people to somehow make an impact with what they say, but they need words that overwhelm others. That is where the wrong influence begins. If you write in the way I try to write, you have an effect on the ego, which has free will. But if you write in a drunken style, you have an effect on the astral body, which is not so free but is in fact unfree. You can influence the astral body especially when you talk to people in a way you know they like to hear.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"VI. Man kann auf den astralischen Leib namentlich dann wirken, wenn man den Leuten gegenüber so redet, daß man weiß, das hören sie gern.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":230,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/352/1924-02-20/p026"}],"english":["GA 352/1924-02-20/p026"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":230,"en_words":231,"ratio":1.0,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","anchors","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.0,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":5351,"original_word_count":5329,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"A Spiritual Scientific View of Nature and Man","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA352/English/SOL2024/19240220p02.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
