Now, eurythmy seeks to express, as in a visible language, what can live in the soul through the movements that naturally follow from the human organism. It goes beyond mime, which only supplements speech here and there, but does not become completely the same as speech; nor does it become dance, which would have to lose the character of speech because it must not become a revelation of the soul-spiritual, but an overflow of the soul-spiritual into outer movement. Nothing should be said that is taken for granted against the full justification of these arts; they have their own beauty. Eurythmy presents itself independently as a visible language shaped by life that can become an art.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Hands of the Philosopher","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":147,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/36/40_hands_of_the_philosopher/p012","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:structural_identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":null,"publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Articles/GA036/English/SOL2024/40_Hands_of_the_Philosopher.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
