Above all, here on the mountain they had to gain the conviction that Christ was truly the living Word made flesh. That is why he shows himself in his spirituality, in that spirituality which is exalted above space and time; in that spirituality for which there is no before and no after, in which everything is present. Even the past is present. The past is essential when Elijah and Moses appear alongside the presence of Jesus. And now the disciples believe in the Spirit of God. But they say: It is written that before the Christ comes, Elijah will come and announce him beforehand. And now read the Gospel. These are truly the words that follow what I have told you. They are extremely significant: “Elijah has come, but they did not recognize him, and they did to him what they wanted to do to him.” — “Elijah has come,” let us remember these words. And then it goes on to say: “Then the disciples realized that he was speaking of John the Baptist.” And Jesus had said beforehand: “Tell no one what you have learned today until the Son of Man is risen.” We are led into a mystery. Christ considered only three disciples worthy of learning this mystery. And what is this mystery? He revealed that John is the reincarnated Elijah.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"IV. Mitgeteilt hat er, daß der Johannes der reinkarnierte Elias ist.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":246,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/52/1904-01-04/p032"}],"english":["GA 52/1904-01-04/p032"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":246,"en_words":238,"ratio":0.97,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","anchors","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.02,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":7261,"original_word_count":7118,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2025","book_title":"Spiritual Teachings Concerning the Soul","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA052/English/SOL2025/19040104p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
