There you will find the development of the soul from kama to manas life. There I have called ahamkara the “I,” manas the “higher thinking,” pure thinking, and buddhi, in order not to refer to the origin, the “moral imagination.” These are just different expressions for one and the same thing. With this we have recognized what the spiritual-soul nature of the human being is. This spiritual-soul nature is embodied, incarnated in what external natural science describes to us. This spiritual-soul nature is actually the human being. It has something like a shell around it: the external physical body.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Origin and Goal of Humanity","site_heading":null,"date":"1905-02-09","location":null,"word_count":153,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/53/1905-02-09/p016","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"UNK2014","book_title":"The Origin and Goal of the Human Being","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA053/English/UNK2014/19050209p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/53/1905-02-09/p016"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/53/1905-02-09/p016","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
