Then the outer world no longer appears to us as something that inhibits and restricts us, but as something that presents us with true, genuine, and spiritual reality. Then harmony is created with the power that wants to move forward and ever forward. Harmony is created between human beings and the world. In this way, we overcome the lower self that looks out into the sensual world. We attain the higher self, the higher ego of the human being, which is spread throughout the entire universe. This is what Goethe means when he alludes to the principle of initiation in his poem “Die Geheimnisse” (The Secrets) with the words with which we would like to conclude, and which show how, through self-transcendence, the human being flows out and flows into the feeling that streams through the world, into the spirituality of the world, into the will of the world spirits pulsating through the world:","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Initiation or Consecration","site_heading":null,"date":"1907-11-28","location":null,"word_count":170,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/56/1907-11-28/p047","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2015","book_title":"Knowledge of Soul and Spirit","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA056/English/eLib2015/19071128p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/56/1907-11-28/p047"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/56/1907-11-28/p047","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
