I have not concealed from you that such cases exist, and I have also tried to show where the more dangerous cases of such dangers actually lie. We have seen in the course of this cycle where these dangers are. Today, I would like to point out in general terms what can be found everywhere in Theosophy and in the secret science on which it is based. Those who seek secret science will not be deterred by its dangers, but will find salvation, the healing of the soul, precisely in secret science. They know that it does not cause harm, that it does not bring dangers, but that it reveals damage and shows dangers where they otherwise exist and where they would continue to eat away if they were not led to healing. Therefore, no one should be deterred by this so-called danger from entering the realms that we must call spiritual. As with all other considerations and points of view, we are led here too to become increasingly aware that for the person who wants to develop the powers and abilities that lie dormant within them, there is no deterrent to entering into nature. For what is material is a revelation of the spirit. And just as there are beings around us that we can perceive as terrible beings when we look into them, so too are they in nature. It is only by closing his eyes that man evades this fact. Those who have known something of the secret science also know this.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The So-Called Dangers of Initiation","site_heading":null,"date":"1907-12-12","location":null,"word_count":265,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/56/1907-12-12/p033","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2015","book_title":"Knowledge of Soul and Spirit","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA056/English/eLib2015/19071212p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/56/1907-12-12/p033"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/56/1907-12-12/p033","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
