Each sees a section. The one who looks down from the higher vantage point sees more and describes more from this higher vantage point. We learn not only what the others below describe, but also what all three can explain at the same time. So it is not difficult to say which one stood on the higher vantage point, but for us it is so that the first three writers were also, in a certain sense, initiates. But the more deeply initiated one, the one who could see much deeper, much deeper than the other three and could write about the true spiritual realities that lie behind the sensory, is the writer of the Gospel of John. Thus, the Gospels come together in harmony and show that what took place as the mystery of Golgotha cannot be understood as an ordinary historical event, but can only be explained by a process such as we find in Paul, who says: “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Bible and Wisdom II","site_heading":null,"date":"1908-11-14","location":null,"word_count":209,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1908-11-14/p038","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2014","book_title":"Where and How Does One Find the Spirit?","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA057/English/eLib2014/19081114p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/57/1908-11-14/p038"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1908-11-14/p038","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
