Therefore, the respiratory process will not be considered here. In order to sustain the life process of his organism, man must take in protein, carbohydrates, fats, and salts. You know that man satisfies the needs of his organism in this regard through what is known as a mixed diet. They obtain these main components of their diet partly from the animal kingdom and partly from the plant kingdom. Among our contemporaries today, there are many more advocates of a mixed diet than of an unbalanced diet, such as a diet consisting only of animal or only of plant products. We must ask ourselves: How do the laws of our environment, from which humans obtain their food, relate to the true forces and needs of the human organism? Today we are only talking about humans, not animals.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Questions Regarding Nutrition in the Light of Spiritual Science","site_heading":null,"date":"1908-12-17","location":null,"word_count":146,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1908-12-17/p008","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2014","book_title":"Where and How Does One Find the Spirit?","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA057/English/eLib2014/19081217p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/57/1908-12-17/p008"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1908-12-17/p008","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
