Then it can be eminently harmful for it if it allows the part of the process that the animal has already taken care of with the plant products to be taken away. The animal carries the plant process to a certain point, and man can then only continue it. When he enjoys animal food, this is taken away from him. And if his nature has the powers to take in plant food fresh and strong and then carry it on, he will have powers within himself that are now unused for any food intake and food processing. These powers are there. We do not eliminate these powers by giving them nothing to do, because then they throw themselves into something else. They work within the human organism. The result is that, as excess activity, they destroy the organism from within.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Questions Regarding Health in Light of Spiritual Science","site_heading":null,"date":"1909-01-14","location":null,"word_count":168,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-01-14/p016","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:structural_identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2014","book_title":"Where and How Does One Find the Spirit?","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA057/English/eLib2014/19090114p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/57/1909-01-14/p016"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-01-14/p016","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
