Nor will they have recognized the extent to which health plays a role in the nature of development. Those who say that symptom cures should not be carried out do not go far enough either. They too fail to grasp the spiritual core. Those who approach Spiritual Science will find that it is a worldview through which inner bliss flows, a worldview of pleasure and joy, which is a prerequisite for promoting the great remedy for health. It is easier to use this or that remedy than to enter into the stream of Spiritual Science in order to find what will make people healthier and healthier. But then, when one enters into this Spiritual Science, one will realize that what an old saying says is true: “A healthy soul dwells in a healthy body,” but that it is wrong to interpret this saying in a materialistic way. Anyone who believes that they must interpret this saying in a materialistic way should just say: Here I see a house. This house is beautiful. So I conclude that because this house is beautiful, it must also have produced a beautiful owner. The beautiful house makes a beautiful owner. — Perhaps the person who says, “Here is a beautiful house; I conclude from this that it is inhabited by an owner with good taste,” is a little wiser. I see the owner of the beautiful house as a person of good taste, and the house as an outward sign that the owner is a person of good taste.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Questions Regarding Health in Light of Spiritual Science","site_heading":null,"date":"1909-01-14","location":null,"word_count":313,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-01-14/p038","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:structural_identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2014","book_title":"Where and How Does One Find the Spirit?","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA057/English/eLib2014/19090114p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/57/1909-01-14/p038"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-01-14/p038","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
