They cannot express it, cannot admit it, and feel they must keep it secret. Because the person cannot find the words to express it, it takes hold of their lower limbs and continues to have an effect. How beneficial it is for a person to be able to confess something like this! Then they feel that it no longer weighs on their soul like a stone, and this feeling of relief has a healing effect. In this respect, confession is an important remedy. Religious communities have known this. Here we see how the invisible inner life of human beings affects the visible, so to speak, and even certain sensible physicians now recognize that incapacities for practical life cannot be cured by cold water cures, but that a kind of confession must be initiated, something must be released from the person if healing is to occur.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Invisible Elements of Human Nature and Practical Life","site_heading":null,"date":"1909-02-18","location":null,"word_count":169,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-02-18/p014","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:structural_identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"eLib2014","book_title":"Where and How Does One Find the Spirit?","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA057/English/eLib2014/19090218p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/57/1909-02-18/p014"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/57/1909-02-18/p014","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"unknown","scope":"volume","note":"How this text was taken down (shorthand transcript, listeners' notes or manuscript) is not on record here.
