Though the comparison may be trivial, it is perhaps still apt: Just as a person can be aware of the chemistry of food and still find a bite to eat flavorful, so it is possible to know something of the profound inner experiences of soul that are only experienced, not “known,” and that come to expression in fairy tale pictures in the manner indicated. In fact, unknowingly the solitary human soul—it is after all alone with itself during sleep, as also in the rest of life even when united with the body—feels and experiences, albeit unconsciously, the whole disparate relation in which it finds itself in regard to its own immense tasks, its place within the divine order of the world.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Fairy Tales in the Light of Spiritual Investigation","date":"1913-02-06","location":null,"word_count":160,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/62/1913-02-06/p026","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"count_diverges","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/62/1913-02-06/p026"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/62/1913-02-06/p026","paragraph_aligned":true}],"german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"1913-02-06","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 62/1913-02-06/p026","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/62/1913-02-06/p026"}],"bead_confidence":"medium","length_check":{"de_words":166,"en_words":160,"ratio":0.96,"partial":false},"correspondence":"established","note":"English passage numbering is edition-relative and this passage's lecture alignment is imperfect.
