Just one more example. I have in front of me two essays, one by a German and the other by someone else. Jakob Grimm, who grasped with such deep love what lived in the German national character, had an inkling of the breadth and expanse that I have characterized today. Precisely because of his love for the German people, it was clear to Jakob Grimm that there must of course also be dark sides. That is why Jakob Grimm wrote an essay about German pedantry, in which he even goes so far as to say that the Germans invented pedantry if it had not already existed in the world. But that is also indicative of the breadth of the German character. Jakob Grimm's essay on German pedantry, especially in language, is very interesting. But it also shows that the German has this peculiarity of grasping everything from the breadth of his emotional life.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"14. Aber der Deutsche hat dadurch schon diese Eigentümlichkeit, alles auch aus der Breite des Seelenlebens heraus zu erfassen.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":182,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/65/1916-04-13/p049"}],"english":["GA 65/1916-04-13/p049"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":182,"en_words":187,"ratio":1.03,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.06,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":12620,"original_word_count":11914,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"From Central European Intellectual Life","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA065/English/SOL2024/19160413p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
