That is the positive core of truth. Not his teachings, but his person; not the good news that his disciples preached, but that they heard his voice, that they were in personal contact with him – that is what made them speak in such an inspiring way. All other explanations are insufficient to explain the unique phenomenon that the world has been renewed through the appearance of Jesus Christ. The theological teachings do not provide sufficient information about this. Theosophy brings us closer to understanding by deepening the theological view. Those who delve into its teachings will find that they have always been there, but they were not taught publicly, but in secret temples, where the disciples of priests and sages were taught and initiated.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":135,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/68a/1905-01-23/p015","witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Essence of Christianity","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA068a/English/SOL2024/19050123p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page. A name the German carries is absent here (or a name appears here that the German does not carry). Two things cause this and they need telling apart: the translation really drops or reassigns what the original distinguishes, OR the paragraph alignment paired the wrong passages. `bead_confidence` does NOT settle which: this corpus's embedding aligner pairs topically-related paragraphs at full confidence, and a sampled high-confidence mismatch proved to be a wrong pairing. It was proclaimed how the divinity poured out into the world, how evolution took place through the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms until man could arise in whom God lives. How this gradually comes about was taught. And to truly experience this within oneself was the goal, the purpose of the teaching. Those who had experienced the God within themselves were ready for initiation, and were initiated into the profound secrets of divine wisdom; they received a new name and could be “sealed in”, that is, they received citizenship in heaven, citizenship in the spiritual world.
