When people hear that there is a way to penetrate into higher worlds, they are often seized by an enormous greed and passion; but to strictly follow what was emphasized in yesterday's lecture, to strictly train thinking, feeling and willing, that does not seem necessary to them. But it must be said to those that today, just as a thousand years ago, this is an indispensable condition and must be strictly adhered to by all teachers of the mystery schools. Those who did not engage in thinking free of sensuality were not allowed to join the secret training. This cannot be followed so strictly today, because those who were the guardians of knowledge in the past gave humanity no opportunity at all to come to this knowledge without fulfilling this condition. Today, however, it is different. Through a thousand and one channels, knowledge flows to humanity. But it is amazing how even great minds in the field of science are completely unaware of this ancient knowledge of humanity!","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"37. Es ist aber staunenswert, wie selbst große Geister auf dem Gebiet der Wissenschaft gar nichts ahnen von diesem Urwissen der Menschheit!","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":196,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/68a/1907-12-19/p012"}],"english":["GA 68a/1907-12-19/p012"],"method":"identity","confidence":"medium","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":196,"en_words":213,"ratio":1.09,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.03,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":4964,"original_word_count":4825,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Essence of Christianity","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA068a/English/SOL2024/19071219p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
