If we trace this image back in the course of the earth's development, it changes continuously. Today's relationship between waking hours and nighttime sleep is not found in all ages. Today we have a ratio between waking and sleeping of two-thirds to one-third. If we go back, we come to times when people slept much more – were outside their physical body for much longer periods of time – and in distant primeval times we find that people slept for the majority of the time and were only in their physical body for a very short time. On the other hand, the activity that the astral body can perform on the physical body is ever more powerful and mighty. At the same time, we see that the physical body is becoming ever simpler and the human spirit is being occupied more and more. If we go back even further, we would find that man has no physical and no etheric body yet, but that he is a purely astral being.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"34. — Würden wir noch weiter zurückgehen, so würden wir finden, dass der Mensch noch keinen physischen und noch keinen Ätherleib hat, sondern dass er ein rein astralisches Wesen ist.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":187,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/68b/1907-12-16/p043"}],"english":["GA 68b/1907-12-16/p043"],"method":"identity","confidence":"medium","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":187,"en_words":195,"ratio":1.04,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.04,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":5870,"original_word_count":5628,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"The Circular Flow of Man's Life within the World Of Sense, Soul And Spirit","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA068b/English/SOL2024/19071216p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
