This is a different question here: the distribution of evil and evil. There is not only one life. Let us assume we have a picture: a variety of things are depicted on it, we cover everything except for one ugly thing: only when the cover is removed does it become apparent that there is something ugly in that very place. [It is the same with knowledge: if it is not merely theoretical, it is not acquired out of joy and pleasure, but out of suffering. Joy is something that is gratefully accepted in life. It is not a matter of asceticism, but anyone who has come to a realization that has permeated his entire soul and is asked, “Would you give up your joy or your pain?” would answer, “I would leave joy and pleasure if only I could keep the pain I have endured, because I owe the realization to it.” And so, when viewed from a higher standpoint, a great deal leads to a justification of suffering and pain.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"18. Und so führt gar vieles, von einem höheren Standpunkt aus betrachtet, zu einer Rechtfertigung des Leidens und des Schmerzes.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":188,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/69d/1914-03-29/p021"}],"english":["GA 69d/1914-03-29/p021"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":188,"en_words":189,"ratio":1.01,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.04,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":4720,"original_word_count":4546,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"Death and Immortality in the Light of Spiritual Science","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA069d/English/SOL2024/19140329p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
