It is not an unimportant addition to the rest of the universal process. This is what it would be if it represented only a repetition, in the form of ideas, of what exists externally. But in *understanding* occurs what does not occur anywhere in the external world: the universal process confronts itself with its own spiritual nature. This universal process would be forever incomplete if this confrontation did not take place. With it the inner experience of man becomes integrated into the objective universal process; the latter would be incomplete without it.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Introduction","site_heading":null,"date":null,"location":null,"word_count":118,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/7/intro/p012","alignment_confidence":"high","alignment_reason":"beads:identity","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":null,"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["RSP1960"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"en","edition":"RSP1960","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/7/intro/p012","paragraph_aligned":true},{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"locus":"GA 7/einfuhrung/p012","anchor_mapped":true,"anchor_method":"vocab","anchor_confidence":"high","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/7/einfuhrung/p012"}],"german_anchor":{"de_prefix":"einfuhrung","de_passages":[{"locus":"GA 7/einfuhrung/p012","url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/7/einfuhrung/p012"}],"bead_confidence":"high","length_check":{"de_words":100,"en_words":118,"ratio":1.18,"partial":false},"correspondence":"established","note":"English passage numbering is edition-relative, so the same number need not name the same paragraph in the German.
