Apollonius draws attention to a very important idea that he can only have drawn from pagan mysticism. He draws attention to the fact that in the various acts of worship performed with the mystic, we are not only dealing with events that represent the world process, but that we are also dealing with the representation of phenomena of nature in symbolic acts. Apollonius therefore presents us with a highly important concept that leads us into the relationship that exists between Christianity and the time. He shows that everything we can see around us and also what is in the starry sky, the stars, can be regarded as a symbol, that all this is nothing other than a symbol of spiritual processes that dominate the world cosmos. Those who heard my lecture on Goethe's \"Faust\" the day before yesterday will remember that something similar was said there: Everything external, \"everything transient is only a parable\". This is what Apollonius says. But it is the common view of the entire age at that time.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"20. Es ist aber die gemeinschaftliche Anschauung des ganzen damaligen Zeitalters.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":187,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/87/1902-03-22/p007"}],"english":["GA 87/1902-03-22/p008"],"method":"length","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":187,"en_words":190,"ratio":1.02,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"proposed","verified":false},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.06,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":4988,"original_word_count":4696,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"Ancient Mysteries and Christianity","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA087/English/SOL2024/19020322p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
