Their inner development has dissolved, and they surround themselves with a horny layer on the outside (beetles, insects). They are preparing to subside into the eighth sphere. The ancient Moon also had an eighth sphere, a satellite Moon. Those life forms reached completion then, going beyond their evolution, and are now like overripe fruit. Spiders belong to the eighth sphere, for instance, and among plants, the mistletoe. Goethe therefore attributed the world of spiders and flies to Mephistopheles.[^3] Anything parasitic is an outer reflection of elemental spirits living on the astral plane.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"Planetary Evolution III","site_heading":null,"date":"1904-10-22","location":null,"word_count":102,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/89/1904-10-22/p015","alignment_confidence":"medium","alignment_reason":"beads:length","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Anna Meuss","identified_edition":"CMP2001","book_title":"Awareness—Life—Form","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA089/English/CMP2001/19041022p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"de","edition":"original","edition_basis":null,"is_original":true,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/89/1904-10-22/p015"},{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/89/1904-10-22/p015","paragraph_aligned":true}],"record":{"record_type":"listeners_notes","scope":"unit","note":"This text is a newspaper's or a listener's report of the lecture, not a transcript.
