LowLow alignmentMost translators re-paragraphed Steiner substantially. The locus identifies the same chapter or section, but paragraph-N to paragraph-N mapping is loose. For exact-quotation precision, compare with the German.
Record: listeners' notes. This text is a newspaper's or a listener's report of the lecture, not a transcript. The wording is the reporter's: do not quote it as Steiner's own words. Evidence: «Symbole als Ausdruck der Urweisheit: Notizen von Marie von Sivers, Walter Vegelahn». The printed volume's account of its texts (Hinweise, Textunterlagen), counted as unit evidence by the operator's ruling of 2026-11-03.
Truth, wisdom, existed before there was human speech. Being young, human speech cannot put the original and eternal truths, which created the world and are still doing creative work on the world, in words. The teaching of that wisdom was always secret. It was only told to pupils when they had learned the language of symbolic signs in which those secrets were presented.[^2] It is difficult to translate these signs into our language. For some things we still have to use symbolic signs and images, for they are better expressed in images than in words.
