And this is of the utmost importance for development in occultism. In this state, which can be compared to dreamless sleep, the person perceives – this is his first experience in this state of consciousness – what the enemies are that pull him down and lead him to the lower realms. It is good that these forces, which thus prevail in man, are hidden from the ordinary person. It is good that a veil is spread over them here. For it is not speaking of them, but really getting to know them, that only those who have attained a certain level of self-confidence and moral strength within themselves can bear. Therefore, no true occultist will give instructions on how to reach such a level before a person has achieved a decisive development of character in the direction of self-confidence, morality and presence of mind, so that he does not run the risk of losing himself, but can hold his powers together. These three qualities are required for every occultist.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"LXIV. Diese drei Eigenschaften sind erforderlich für jeden Okkultisten.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"word_count":177,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/de/ga/90a/1904-10-30/p018"}],"english":["GA 90a/1904-10-30/p018"],"method":"identity","confidence":"high","correspondence":"established","length_check":{"de_words":177,"en_words":189,"ratio":1.07,"partial":false},"pairing_state":"verified","verified":true,"evidence":["length","meaning","audit"]},"witness_completeness":{"ratio":1.03,"band":"comparable","note":null,"word_count":3092,"original_word_count":2998,"may_be_abridged":false},"witness_quality":{"translator":{"scope":"unit","status":"recorded","translator":"Steiner Online Library","identified_edition":"SOL2024","book_title":"Self-Knowledge and God-Knowledge I","publisher":"Steiner Online Library","publisher_inferred":true,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA090a/English/SOL2024/19041030p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line","publisher_note":"The publisher is inferred from the edition code in this lecture's source URL, not stated by the source page.
