Such things appear superfluous to one who hurries by them without attention, and yet noted men of the past have already occupied themselves with them. But he regarded animals as machines—beings of which one could not really speak of a real ensoulment—reflex machines.","text_trust":"verbatim","quote_safe":true,"title":"The Animal Soul","site_heading":null,"date":"1907-03-16","location":null,"word_count":95,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/97/1907-03-16/p003","alignment_confidence":"low","alignment_reason":"no_original_to_compare","two_voice_volume":false,"translation_credit":{"scope":"unit","status":"established","translator":"Anna Meuss","identified_edition":"Singles","book_title":"The Christian Mystery","publisher":null,"publisher_inferred":false,"match_score":1.0,"source_url":"https://www.rsarchive.org/Lectures/GA097/English/Singles/19070316p01.html","evidence":"lecture_page_line"},"edition_coverage":{"de":["original"],"en":["English"]},"available_versions":[{"lang":"en","edition":"English","edition_basis":null,"is_original":false,"is_default_edition":true,"url":"https://anthroposophy.ai/v1/steiner/en/ga/97/1907-03-16/p003"}],"record":{"record_type":"listeners_notes","scope":"volume","note":"Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript.
