German steel magnate; one of Hitler's earliest major industrial backers (from 1923); collaborated with Averell Harriman's W.A. Harriman & Company of New York 1924-1939. Wrote I Paid Hitler (1941) naming the network specifically. Broke with Hitler 1939; arrested 1940; survived Nazi camps.
