Ancient initiates guided humanity by consciously working with lunar spiritual beings who entered human bodies through breathing, particularly during dreamlike clairvoyant states. As human consciousness evolved and this natural process became impossible, different cultures—Egypt through mummification, Greece through balanced breathing rhythms—developed alternative methods to access these cosmic influences shaping historical development.
Humanity has descended into intellectualism since the fifteenth century, knowing only mirror-images of thoughts rather than their spiritual substance. Earth-Spirits now work to help individuals develop genuine moral impulses independent of heredity, yet modern materialism and mechanical thinking create hostile conditions for these beings seeking to guide human evolution toward a spiritualized future.
Egyptian mummification created dwelling places for spiritual beings to impart knowledge of nature when human clairvoyance faded. Similarly, modern occult orders preserve ancient ceremonies as 'mummies' through which unborn souls and nature spirits communicate spiritual wisdom to humanity, compensating for our current intellectual limitations and preparing future spiritualized thinking.
Ancient Egyptian initiates taught that the human head mirrors the entire cosmos, with its true workings revealed only through studying preserved mummies and the breath's movement through the organism. This esoteric knowledge of how the head shapes future incarnations through organ forces parallels Christ's teaching that spiritual words and sacred rites—unlike material machines—prepare elementary beings for the earth's future Jupiter incarnation.
Abstract intellectual thinking represents a death of the soul, comparable to Egyptian mummification of corpses. Goethe's discovery of metamorphosis—the living, mobile concept that perceives unity within multiplicity—offers humanity the spiritual elixir needed to revive rigidified thought and awaken genuine reverence in science and culture.
Medieval Europe faced three competing spiritual currents: Eastern esotericism seeking union with spiritual worlds, Eastern ritualism centered on Jerusalem's holy places, and Western dogmatism that severed vision from belief. Pope Nicholas I's ninth-century decisions to suppress esoteric knowledge in favor of abstract dogma created a spiritual vacuum that centuries later erupted as the Crusades—a desperate attempt to reconnect with lost spiritual realities through pilgrimage to the East.
After death, the human soul expands into cosmic consciousness, guided by the spiritual archetypes of earthly minerals and plants through the planetary sphere, then encounters divine-spiritual hierarchies beyond the fixed stars while confronting the group souls of animals in the lunar realm. The soul's capacity to absorb transformative forces from the divine world determines what moral and instinctual content it carries back toward rebirth, requiring spiritual development oriented toward the Christ impulse to navigate safely through these archetypal realms.
The human head reproduces the cosmos in miniature, enabling the third hierarchy (angels, archangels, archai) to accomplish their spiritual work through unconscious brain activity during waking life. The chest and limb-metabolic systems involve progressively lower hierarchies (second and first) as earthly substance increasingly dominates cosmic activity, while karma circulates between these hierarchies across death and rebirth, passing from the highest beings back to the lowest to shape each new earthly incarnation.
