selection principle. The headings are this index's own. Rudolf Steiner's two lecture cycles on the poem, GA 142 (Cologne, 1912 to 1913) and GA 146 (Helsinki, 1913), are listed lecture by lecture. Elsewhere a text is listed where it says something about the poem, not where it names it in a list of scriptures or books to read. What the poem shows of Krishna himself is listed under the entry on Krishna.
usage. This entry lists where Rudolf Steiner's collected works (the Gesamtausgabe, GA) treat the subject. It contains no quotations: the headings, scope lines and notes are this index's wording, not Steiner's. Under each heading Steiner's own books (GA 1 to 28) come first, then articles and notes (GA 29 to 46), then lectures in date order. A text is listed when it treats the subject or the point its heading names, not when the word merely occurs. A paragraph number marks the one passage that is the point; otherwise the reference is the whole chapter or lecture. A book's defining paragraph is also listed in German where the German edition numbers it differently. A lecture with more than one English translation is listed once. Texts with no English translation are listed in German, and so are the esoteric lessons (GA 266), whose German is the original record; each reference's witnesses name every language the site serves it in. A reference marked as listeners' notes was written down by others (a listener, a newspaper, the minutes), one marked report by others is another person's account of a meeting or event, one marked mixed sources comes from a volume that holds both listeners' records and texts in Steiner's own hand, and one marked may be abridged is a translation shorter than the German. Read a passage before saying what it contains.
