Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Auch wenn die Mitschrift noch nicht die später übliche Genauigkeit aufweist» (Even though the transcript does not yet have the accuracy usual later). The publisher's description of the volume, as mirrored on AnthroWiki (GA 87), which calls the cycle the earliest of which a listener's transcript exists. The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

Let me add this one more passage in order to have a point of reference for the next time, namely that he who sought the entrance through the gate of death in order to enter the land of Osiris had to undergo a series of trials. He is led before 42 judges of the dead. These are nothing other than the people who have become "Osiris" in the realm of the dead; people who once lived and have already become "Osiris". He appears before them, so that the one who visits the world beyond appears before his most distinguished ancestors. And the one who is called to become an "Osiris" is nothing other than a new form, a renewed form, a link in the forty-two-membered series.
