Record: listeners' notes. Written from listeners' notes, summaries, or memory rather than a shorthand transcript. The wording is the note-taker's as much as Steiner's: weigh a single striking phrase here far more cautiously than the same phrase in a stenographic volume, and do not rest an argument on one word. Evidence: «Aufzeichnungen von neunzehn Vorträgen und vier privaten Lehrstunden» (Records of nineteen lectures and four private teaching hours). Rudolf Steiner Verlag Gesamtverzeichnis 2022, volume subtitle. The translation is the maintainer's, not a published one.

In order to understand how this happens and what significance it has, we must make clear in a few words what will then be the subject of the sixth lecture: the state in the Kamaloka. When the human being leaves the physical body, the same is given to the earth; also the life force is discarded. Then he enters the astral world, the realm of desires. Man goes through a period in this astral world, then passes into devachan, and then descends again to embodiment. This is the normal [post-mortal] development of man, that he passes through two worlds, the world of the astral and the world of the purely spiritual, in order to become mature again afterwards for the next embodiment. In this next embodiment he then enjoys the fruits of the former life. "God does not allow him to be mocked. For what a man sows, that shall he also reap."
